My Story
This August, I'll be participating in the Great Cycle Challenge for my 9th year. I come back each summer because cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada. It’s heartbreaking to know that over 1,000 Canadian children are diagnosed with cancer every year. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it!
I’m raising money through this challenge to help these kids, support their families and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments for childhood cancer.
I usually increase both my riding and fundraising goals each year but this years challenge will be cut short for me. You probably noticed that I've lowered my personal riding goal as my family is travelling to the UK during the second half of August to join our oldest daughter for her graduation at the start of September in Scotland. I thought about taking this year off but was reminded that it's not the amount I ride but the desire to raise awareness and funds for this important cause. I'll give it my all from August 1st-19th but after that, I'll be away and it's unlikely that I'll be biking. Looking forward to getting out and connecting with others in Windsor-Essex training now and riding in this years challenge!

Drive Less, Pedal More 🚲
19 Aug 2026A few great rides over the past week. I connected with another GCCer which was a lot of fun! I haven’t seen as many riders on the trails as in past years but it’s nice to ride with others who are on the same mission and share stories. Just as your support motivates me, I enjoy hearing about other participants experiences and sharing mine. I’m hopeful to get another few kms in before I hang my helmet for our trip. This is the home stretch!
