What an incredible Matching Day!
Thanks to the generosity of friends, family and supporters, my Great Cycle Challenge fundraising total has reached $5,796.13 — 116% of my original $5,000 goal.
Across Canada, Kick Cancer’s Butt Day raised an amazing $1,934,978 to fight childhood cancer. Because donations exceeded the Garron Family’s $1.3 million matching pool, the final matching amount was distributed proportionally at 67.18%, (in my case that's $1493)
To everyone who contributed yesterday — and everyone who has supported this ride already — thank you. I am genuinely grateful.
Matching Day also included a 75.35 km KVC ride with Marie, Steve and Mike. About 65 km into my ride, flat tire #4 decided to make an appearance.
It was a useful reminder not to sweat the little things. Compared with what the children and families we are riding for face every day, changing another tube beside the road is a very small problem indeed.
There is still plenty of riding ahead toward my 1,200 km August goal, but the fundraising support has already exceeded anything I expected.
Coach Sunshine and I thank you very much.
Week 1 complete: 6 rides and more than 340 km toward my 1,200 km goal.
She appears to have inherited the coaching job—and possibly the contract-negotiation skills too.
Thank you to everyone who has donated and followed along so far.
