Friday's ride took me to the Saddledome. I don't have memories of attending many games. My memories of the Dome are around the excitement of it being built ahead of Calgary hosting the 1988 Winter Olympics. I was a volunteer before and throughout the games and remember how exciting it was to have a new and special building for the athletes and for Calgarians. If I remember correctly Alan and I attended a skating event as well as a hockey game during the games. Alan was a big hockey fan (Detroit Red Wings...) and any chance we had to go to a game there was fun.
It's day #6 of the Great Cycle Challenge and to date, I've completed 3 rides for the Great Cycle Challenge. There is a new building going up on Home Road, close to where I park, so every time I go for a bike ride I see a lot of the construction guys who must wonder what I'm doing. This is the shouldice athletic park area and it looks like an apartment building that is going up.
