One more week, and this journey has already taught me so much. The biggest lesson? The goal matters, but so does the person pursuing it.💙🧡🚴🏾♀️
I’m learning to listen to my body, quiet my mind, protect my energy, and let my heart stay connected to the purpose.
Push when you can. Pause when you need to. Keep moving when you’re ready.
Because sometimes, slowing down is how we keep moving forward.
The kilometres are counting, and so are the lessons they teach.
Years ago, I chose to ride,
With hope in my heart and purpose inside.
Through hills and wind, through rain and sun,
I kept on riding, one by one.
For every child, for every fight,
I pedal with hope, I pedal with light.
Years later, still moving strong...
Still riding, still fighting, still carrying hope along.
Every mile has meaning when you ride for something bigger than yourself.
Today is another opportunity to show up, push forward, and see just how far I can go. I’m choosing to embrace the challenge, trust my strength, and keep my eyes on the purpose behind every kilometer. Whatever today brings, I’m ready to meet it with a grateful heart and a determined spirit.
Fueled by hope. Driven by purpose. Powered by perseverance.
There’s something this journey is teaching me: pausing is critical. Not every goal needs to be chased at full speed. Sometimes we need to stop, reflect, and ask ourselves if the target we set is actually fueling us or overextending us.
Next year, I’ll move a lot smarter. You’ll hear more about that later in my journey.
For now, I ride, I learn, I grow, and I keep moving forward.
Stop chasing goals that drain you. Start chasing goals that fuel you.🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Today wasn't about riding the easiest route. It was about choosing to keep going when the road pushed back, and it did. Every hill teaches what the flat roads never could.
That's the conversation I'm choosing to have with myself as I prepare for August.
Did I set a goal that stretches me? Absolutely.
Could I lower it? Yes.
Will I? No.
Growth begins where comfort ends, and hope begins where doubt loses its voice. I may not know exactly how I'll get there, but I do know this: every ride, every kilometre, and every pedal stroke moves me closer.
Hope is the way forward.
And forward is the only way.
Whether I reach my 500km goal or not, I am still winning in all the ways that matter... Now let's make it happen Carlene, because I believe in you.
There are moments when we convince ourselves that hope has run out. We tell ourselves the goal is too big, the challenge is too hard, and that we've come as far as we can.
But hope doesn't disappear. Sometimes it just needs us to hold on a little longer.
Over the years, I've learned that the greatest obstacle isn't the distance, it's the story we tell ourselves. The moment I catch myself thinking, "I can't," I choose to change the script. I remind myself that one more pedal stroke matters. One more conversation matters. One more person can make all the difference.
Last year, I shared a message about never giving up because you never know what's waiting around the next corner. That message still holds true today.
About a week ago I invested $50 in a fundraiser for GCCCANADA and, through the generosity of others, that became $500. Every single dollar went right back into my Great Cycle Challenge Canada fundraising efforts.
The experience reminded me of something powerful: never assume there are no more people willing to help. There is always one more person. Then another. And another. Kindness has a way of multiplying when we refuse to give up.
Eight years ago, I crossed a finish line that had nothing to do with a bicycle. I became cancer free. Today, I ride because I know what hope can do. I ride because I've watched my nephew survive sarcoma cancer. I ride because I believe every child deserves the same chance to grow up, dream big, and live a full life.
So if you're chasing a goal that feels impossible, don't quit. Keep believing. Keep hoping. Keep showing up.
Hope has a remarkable way of meeting those who refuse to stop moving forward. 💙🧡🚴🏿♀️
Turning miles into miracles, one ride at a time.
I ride so kids can dream bigger than cancer.
Hope is my strongest gear.
It’s not just a jersey, it’s quiet prayers stitched in hope for every child fighting cancer.
It’s people like us choosing to stand, to support, and to keep believing in a cure.
Not every story ends in victory, which is why the fight continues. Cancer doesn’t get the final say here.
The Giant and I have learned that mountains, winds, and kilometers are no match for determination.💙🧡
