Bruce Mitchell

Bruce a was a dear friend and mentor of mine who made a huge difference to my life and to the lives of the people he touched. He was a great family man and an exemplary educator, and gave so much to his community. He epitomized Sir Winston Churchill's statement on community service: "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." Bruce, we miss you and your good work endures!

My Story

This August, I am again taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer.

Why? because cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in Canada. Over 1,700 Canadian children are diagnosed with cancer every year. It’s awful to think of so many young lives struggling with this terrible disease.

Kids should be living life, NOT fighting for it. I am taking on this challenge to support cancer research and give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

It will be a small challenge compared to what these brave kids face every day as they battle this disease and fight for their lives, not to mention the anguish and grief so many families experience. My goal is to raise $2500.00 and ride 200 kilometres.

So today, I'm asking for your support. Please donate through my fundraising page and join me in the fight to save little lives.

Please note that any donations made on Wednesday August 12th will be matched by another donor.

Please also note that my kilometre goal is much reduced at this point since I injured may leg in a bike accident two weeks ago and have another two plus weeks to wait before I can start riding again. My hope is to increase the riding goal from 200 to 500 kilometres later in the month
