My Story
This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? When I was 8 my 13 year old sister was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She is thankfully still alive 51 years later. I was with my nephew Brendan when he passed away at age 11 from non-Hogkin’s t-cell lymphoma. My dad is dealing with prostate cancer and my sister in-law Judy is dealing with after affects of a brain tumor, and my brother in-law Mike is now dealing with bladder cancer and my father in-law passed away due to oral cancer. My good friend Doug is also dealing with this disease at the moment. So as you can tell, cancer has been far too prevalent in my life, and I want it gone. Also, right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
