My Story

This is my sixth year riding for the GCC. Raised $11,477.00 and Rode 6,859 Km.

This year things have changed due to my person health. It's NOT Cancer, but Kidney stones and complications - CT scan showed a Renal Mass (cyst) on my Right Kidney. It was removed in January and seemed OK - come back in Six months for check-up. I did not make it. On July 21st. another stone got stuck on my left side. CT scan - sent home with Tylenol 3. July 25th. CT scan indicated a blockage requiring emergency Surgery to install a bypass Ureteral Stent on the Left side. Catheter out July 30th.

I still want to Ride, but this year my Km goal will be diminished. Doctors office told me to be careful because of the stent. Tried to ride Aug 1st. but must wait a bit. On Aug 8th. and Aug 9th seemed OK.

But I had a Bike accident on Aug. 9th on way home. Went over my Handel bars and damaged my Sternum. It will take time to repair - Feels like a cracked rib but in the center of my Chest.

I Tried to participate in the Great Cycle Challenge this year but it may not happen.

Update Aug 11th. - Went to Hospital - CT scan verified a Transverse Fracture of the mid Sternum. I'm be sidelined for this Year.
